The Vision Behind the Retreat

Over the years as a physiotherapist, I have been fortunate to work with individuals in many phases of their life, involving health and wellbeing. I've seen and heard first hand patients explaining how their bodies are feeling, as well as what is preventing them from living happy and meaningful lives.  A key factor in people being able to achieve this, is whether they are moving well and experiencing biomechanical comfort in their bodies. This means being free from pain and stiffness.

The image showcases a luxurious 3-bedroom private pool villa in Bali, a featured accommodation for our retreat.

“DKB Transformations Travellers Retreat” has been a long-time dream in the making.  To create an environment for people to learn ways in which therapeutic movement can help them remain biomechanically sound, help deal with little niggles in the body before they become bigger issues and among other things, learn how to have a simple yet effective way to tap into breathing mechanics to calm and restore the nervous system. I wanted to provide the opportunity and learning environment that is unique, beautiful, that promoted the chance to restore the body's energy, and inspire health and wellness.

Finding luxurious accommodation was a top priority, and it took many months to discover a stunning Villa that provided a sense of beauty and an exclusive environment. It is essential to feel relaxed and well looked after during the stay. It was a must to experience the benefits of “Vitamin Sea”, we needed to be close to the ocean. This could be achieved by either visually taking in the ocean's beauty, grounding our feet on the sandy beach, or immersing ourselves in the rejuvenating magnesium and sea salt water. The ocean's blue expanse and the vastness of the horizon can have a meditative effect, helping to clear the mind and reduce feelings of anxiety and depression. The ocean offers breathtaking views and stunning sunsets and the calming sound of waves and the serene environment of the ocean have a soothing effect on the mind. Spending time near the ocean can reduce stress levels, lower cortisol (stress hormone) production, and promote relaxation.

We needed warm weather to ensure that our body and joints feel comfortable and relaxed. Spending time in the sun near the ocean allows the body to produce vitamin D, which is essential for bone health, immune function, and overall well-being. Additionally, it allowed us to enjoy socialising outdoors at night, under a beautiful warm sky adorned with stars. As social creatures a special group environment, has been shown to benefit the mind and body as much as other wellness formats.

On the final night of this retreat, we will be graced with the beauty of a “Full Flower Moon”.  A full moon is a time when we feel inspired to pursue our dreams and witness the manifestation of things.  A full moon can be seen as a time to reflect on completion of personal goals or projects and to celebrate achievements. I can't imagine a more perfect way to spend our last evening together than by gathering under the radiant light of the moon, enjoying a delicious dinner prepared by the talented chefs of the villa, feeling nourished and replenished both physically and mentally.
